About the Business

The business is owned by J Coulter Incorporated Engineer, Fellow of the Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering, Registered Plumber, who has more than 25 years experience in the Building Services Engineering Sector.

Jack is one of only approximately 150 plumbers who has, through qualification and experience, managed to achieve the professional status of Incorporated Engineer. This is not the type of "qualification" or "professional status" which can be bought over the internet. The term Incorporated Engineer is, as stated above, a recognition of the extent of formal qualification and experience gained in the field, which is awarded by the Engineering Council UK (ECUK).

ECUK is the official body which regulates the engineering profession in the UK and formally represents the interests of UK engineers abroad. It is a Designated Authority under the current General Systems Directives ( follow this link for more information ECUK).

ECUK's  mission is to set and maintain realistic and internationally relevant standards of professional competence and ethics for engineers, technologists and technicians, and to license competent institutions to promote and uphold the standards, which in the context of this site and the trade you bring to this business, is your assurance of integrity, quality, reliability and continued support, which cannot often be guaranteed by those who choose to call themselves "Plumber" or "Heating Engineer" etc without the benefit of formal qualifications.

"The business was started with the aim of providing a national technical breakdown and installation service for companies and individuals whose aim was to receive no-nonsense, unbiased information regarding their requirements, safe in the knowledge that the formal technical background was in place to ensure the accuracy of such information."

It is also our belief that given the ease with which many “cowboys” seem to be able to divest both companies and individuals of their money - many of which are well known, large companies - it is about time the plumbers and heating engineers of this country applied some integrity to what they do before simply taking money.

All works undertaken - whether they be design, installation, response maintenance or servicing works - are reviewed by the proprietor for accuracy, logic and technical content before the client is contacted with the findings or in the case of installation before works are quoted for or designs submitted. Indeed the commitment regarding technical accuracy on the part of the proprietor is such that he is often to be found undertaking fault finding and installation works himself in order to ensure that others who follow after are accurately and correctly briefed and that the quality of workmanship and adherence to good design and installation procedures etc can be well maintained.

"The ethos behind such commitment is that the customer saves money by ensuring that works are undertaken correctly in the first place and that marginally skilled labour with little or no motivation or enthusiasm for the job does not enter into the equation and destroy client / contractor confidence."

Design works, compilation of performance specifications, schedules of rates, project management are undertaken without a conflict of interest occurring in that as required by the client and at no extra cost, the intellectual rights of designs are handed over to the client on completion of such designs, prior to tendering. The client is then given the option of whether or not to allow us to quote for such works. Project Management and Contracts Administration works are usually undertaken only when we are not undertaking related installation works.
